Copyright Permissions

The most recent assignment in this class was to find a book in your field, whose author has the same last initial as yours. Then, we were to e-mail them to ask permission to duplicate a section of the book. Because I actually have two last initials, G and H, I wasn't sure whether authors with either one would be okay, or if I had to use G. I did find some authors whose last initials were G or H, and I e-mailed four of them.

I recently received back responses from all four. Three of them wanted to know how much of the book I wanted to reproduce, so I have responded to them appropriately. One, John Graham, one of the authors of "A Review of Taxes and Corporate Finance (Foundations and Trends in Finance)," gave me permission right away, with no further questions asked. A copy of the e-mail response (with original e-mail attached) is below:

Victor,

Yes, you have permission.

Good luck

Dear Dr. Graham,

As a research project for my Computers and Society class, I was asked to
write to an author asking permission to reproduce a section of their
book for use in a paper. I am therefore writing to ask your permission
to reproduce a section from your book, "A Review of Taxes and Corporate
Finance (Foundations and Trends in Finance)." Thank you for your time
and consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

Victor Gigante-Hueber

All of my original e-mails, including this one, were sent out on November 1, and all of them were similar in content.

I will post the other ones as I get responses.
